Former Alabama quarterback and four star recruit Phillip Sims was granted a waiver to play at Virginia immediately this season.
The Washington Post is reporting that the Chesapeake, Va native will likely win the starting job now since his waiver was pushed through.
Sims battled A.J. McCarron for the starting spot throughout this past season and we all know how that played out.
McCarron was the Most Outstanding Player of the BCS Championship game and Sims decided he wanted to be close to home.
Sims was Considered the No. 2 pro style quarterback recruit in the country by Rivals.com in 2009, and will face immediate pressure to keep the Cavaliers near the top of the Atlantic Coast Conference this coming season.
