Who’s the better quarterback Tony Romo or Eli Manning.

Wow this is an amazing topic that has and can be discussed for hours.

The topic just got more intense courtesy of former New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer.

According to NFL.com, Toomer was on the “Movin’ the Chains” show on SiriusXM NFL Radio, when he made comments that may affect his standing as a former Giant.

Toomer stated ”Tony Romo is probably, if you look at it, statistically, he’s probably the best quarterback in the NFC East.”

He also said ”You look at Eli Manning and what he does in the fourth quarter, but you talk about consistency, talking about 31 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions, that guy (Romo) can play.”

It’s a conversation that can go back and forth.

Pundits will point to Manning’s 2 Super Bowl rings and his penchant for clutch 4th quarter performances.

Romo will get praise for his clean passer rating and efficiency as a quarterback, but all that gets erased because he is  18-19 in his career against the NFC East and 5-7 against the Giants, including three losses at Cowboys Stadium.

In my opinion Romo does more with less than Eli probably ever could.  That includes a constant shaky offensive line, no running game at times, constant dysfunction as a franchise and organization, and a piss poor defense for so many years.

Romo’s efficiency and clean play gets overshadowed by the pressure of the team he plays for and his penchant for a late game mistake or two.

The debate in my opinion would not even be close if not for the last name of the quarterback involved (Manning) and the 2 Super Bowl rings.

The game is played to accrue championship rings and those 2 that Eli Manning has will allow him to win the debate until Romo closes the gap.

All hail Eli, For Now.
