The New England Patriots and first round pick Dont’a Hightower reached an agreement on a four-year deal NFL.com is reporting.
Hightower the super skilled thumper of a linebacker was the 25th overall pick out of national champion Alabama.
Terms of the deal were not made public but because of the new CBA, the money is slotted according to draft position.
It is believed Hightower will make around $7.7 million over four years with $6.25 of it guaranteed.
At 6 foot 2 265 pounds he is both skilled and versatile and will continue to help upgrade a defense that has been poor over the past few seasons.
I expect Hightower to start at one of the strong side linebacker positions and have his versatility used on 3rd downs as a pass rusher.
