ESPN.com is reporting that Wisconsin All American running back Montee Ball was the victim of an unprovoked attack early Wednesday according to police reports.
Ball was reportedly attacked by 5 men around 2:15 a.m.
He was taken to the hospital and released a few hours later. Ball suffered a concussion and facial lacerations.
Head coach Bret Bielema released a prepared statement.
“My concern right now is for Montee’s health and well-being,” Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema said in a prepared statement. “Montee has been released from the hospital and is under the care and supervision of our sports medicine staff. We will continue to evaluate him as we approach the start of fall camp this weekend. I do expect Montee to make a full recovery.”
Ball reportedly didn’t know his attackers and no explanation for the attack was available at the time.
Ball the reigning Big Ten Offensive Player Of The Year and consensus 1st team all american may not be ready for the start of fall camp this coming monday.
It’s an unfortunate incident and I truly hope those 5 men are quickly brought to justice.
