Antonio Cromartie stirred things up earlier this week in Jets camp when he stated that he was teams second best receiver.
In response to that comment number wide-out Santonio Holmes let it be know that the receivers will take care of their side of the ball and Cromartie can focus on his.
Tonight during the Jets annual green and white scrimmage, Cromartie got the best of Holmes and almost cost his team in the process.
ESPN.com is reporting that Holmes suffered a rib injury will reportedly be day-to-day.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan kind of overreacted at first by claiming he thought that Holmes had broken a rib. After a negative x-ray determined that the injury was not that serious, Ryan backed off his earlier claim.
“I mean it’s just one of those things where literally, he got hit in the ribs, made a real nice catch, converted that third down,” coach Rex Ryan said after Saturday night’s scrimmage, in quotes distributed by the team. “But, there’s some concern that he may have broken that rib.”
“He’s a tough guy, but I don’t think he’s going to be running around tomorrow or the next day.”
Holmes has also been reportedly dealing with some hamstring injuries that caused him to miss time earlier in the week.
I’m not sure if there is the words earlier might have caused a problem with Holmes and Cromartie, but the usually timid defensive back definitely laid a wicked hit to his receiver brother.
