Well Tigers fan’s it’s officially a wrap for the Honey Badger.
The Shreveport Times is reporting that Tyrann Mathieu has been deemed permanently ineligible by LSU.
Mathieu can return to school and get his education but his days of playing football in Baton Rouge are all but finished.
LSU senior associate athletic director for NCAA compliance Bo Bahnsen repeated on Monday that the Honey Badger will never play another down at LSU again.
“He’s permanently ineligible to play football at LSU,” Bahnsen said in a telephone interview Monday afternoon. “That’s definite. That’s what was said Friday.”
Louisiana State Universities substance abuse policy states that after a third failed drug test or violation results in an athlete being deemed permanently ineligible.
Mathieu had been holding on to a slim chance that he could sit out a season, pay for school and return in 2013.
That will not be case. You obviously can see Mathieu had no knowledge of what the student or athletics handbook entailed.
Now I guess its back to McNeese State or another FCS school for the former Heisman Trophy finalist.
