Vince Young sat out all of the 2012 NFL season after teams decided to pass on his services after he was released by Buffalo. Young has financial issues he needs to resolve, and really needs to get back in the league so he can justify being the 3rd overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.
Today Young started his climb back to respectability and a possible roster spot by working out at the Texas Longhorns Pro Day on Tuesday afternoon.
According to NESN.com and other notable outlets, Young reportedly was quite impressive today as he put his skills on display.
Around The League via Gil Brandt is reporting that Young looked magnificent today.
Brandt was more effusive in his praise, saying Young “put on a show” and was “magnificent” passing the ball in the pocket and on the run. Brandt touted Young’s accuracy; a few of VY’s long tosses to Texas receiver Marquise Goodwin drew “oohs” and “aahs” from the crowd.
Young himself thinks he performed ok.
“I think I did OK,” Young said. “Mostly it was just being here for the guys. That was my mindset and just showing the rest of the scouts that I’m still training and staying in shape.”
Young is set to graduate from Texas in May and maybe has had the light on in his head somewhat. Teams are still going to be apprehensive about bringing him, even thought on talent alone, he’s definitely better than most of the backups in the league.
At this point is all about what’s going on in that head of his.Powered by Sidelines
