Times are tough out here, and when you are not making the big money that you used to, they get tougher.  USA Today is reporting that Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress is set to have his Virginia Beach, Virginia home auctioned off by a judge.

A circuit court has ordered the auction of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress’ Virginia Beach home to satisfy liens against the property due a judgment resulting from a 2008 traffic accident in Florida.

Judge H. Thomas Padrick Jr. ordered Monday the property will be sold at auction no more than one week following the fifth advertisement of the sale in the local newspaper, according to court documents emailed to USA TODAY Sports by the lawyer for the plaintiff in the suit.

Burress owes $159,000 to a woman who claims he caused her to suffer neck and back injuries when he rear-ended her nearly five years ago. Burress was a member of the New York Giants at the time.

He is slated to earn a non-guaranteed base salary of $940,000 this season if he doesn’t get cut before the first regular season game.
