Rolando McClain is about to go from the doldrums of NFL franchises to one that competes for the gold standard year in and year out.
McClain is on the cusp of reaching a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, and with that privilege will come the need to be responsible and ball out.
McClain recently moved back to Alabama with his wife and two kids, and as he told the Madison Weekly News, “sometimes you make mistakes, and sometimes the Devil wins.”
“As a kid and young adult you make mistakes and I have made some. I have tried to do good, but sometimes the devil wins.”
I am who I am. I’ll have to change my surroundings,” admitted McClain, who grew up with the nickname of “Boo”. “I love my friends and my city and I won’t turn my back on them. I just need to make better decisions in my life. I won’t be making as many visits to Decatur.”
McClain opened up to the paper and admitted he’s been on his own since the age of 15, and knows his legal issues and perceived attitude problem have definitely gotten him a bad rap.
“It’s not about me anymore as now I have two sons and a wonderful wife and we want to take it slow and make our way into the community in a positive way. I’m a home body. I like to fish and we go out on the boat and enjoy relaxing as a family as often as we can,” said McClain.
Rolando McClain is excited about the opportunity a chance with the Super Bowl Champion Ravens presents.
“It’s a move that can’t go wrong and I’m looking forward to playing in Baltimore as the Ravens run the same or very similar defense as I was a part of at the University of Alabama,” McClain said. “Ray Lewis retired after winning the Super Bowl and I look to fill his slot. No one can fill his shoes, but I can fill his slot. I just want to fill out the shoes of Rolando McClain. This is a perfect fit for me personally.”
