I woke up this morning to comments from a Texans linebacker that probably will cause mass debate throughout the day on this wonderful Tuesday.
Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is only 23 years old, and coming off one of the greatest statistical seasons for a defensive lineman in a long time.
Watt has the potential to go down as one of the all time greats if he continues his progression. One of his teammates seems to agree, and took it a step further.
According to Pro Football Talk, Cushing was ESPN’s NFL 32, when he stated that Watt could be the best defensive player ever.
It’s not the first statement about Watt in regards to him becoming an all time great. Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips reportedly summarized Watt’s 2012 season with this statement, “He had the best season ever. Nobody’s ever had a season like that.”
I’m not sure Watt can ever put up the numbers or dominate the game enough to be the best defensive player ever.
Watt would have to put up awesome numbers just to be named as the best defensive end to ever play the game, ahead of names like, Reggie White, Bruce Smith, Deacon Jones and so many others.Powered by Sidelines
