The L.A. Lakers quietly in the midst of Derrick Rose being out for the season just pulled off some blockbuster news of their own.

According to the teams official Twitter account, the Lakers and Kobe Bryant have agreed to a contract extension.

Terms of the deal were not officially released, but it’s believed to be a two year deal.

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak released this statement.

The numbers for Kobe Bryant’s extension have been released, and the Black Mamba will continue to be the highest paid player in the NBA.

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN L.A., Bryant will make $23.5 million in 2014, and $25 million in 2015, all while keeping him the highest paid player in the league.
