The New England Patriots have themselves in a conundrum when it comes to cornerback Aqib Talib.

The Patriots got a bargain deal out of Talib last season as he racked up another pro bowl season while only costing $5 million against the cap.

Talib is going to cost a whole lot more this go round, and Patriots owner Robert Kraft is reportedly reluctant to invest large money into an injury prone cornerback, regardless of how good he is.

“Well we want to retain all the good players we can retain,” Kraft said last Friday on WBZ-AM, via CSN New England’s Tom Curran. “It’s not like we have unlimited funding so … He wasn’t on the field a lot of the timesince he’s been with us.

“It’s a balance of us balancing all that out and what is he worth,” Kraft continued. “I think he’s happy here and would like to be here and we’re happy with him and we’d like to have him here and now it’s just about doing business.”

Talib would prefer to stay in New England, but as Wes Welker found out last off-season, the Patriots have a price in mind, and they’re sticking to it.
