Cam Newton will be throwing to a whole new corp of wide receivers in 2014 after the Panthers jettisoned every veteran pass catcher they had away.
Add to that the fact that he’s still recovering from ankle surgery and you can see how developing chemistry with his teammates might be a bit difficult at this time.
Newton said Tuesday that he wants to get back on the field faster than the four-month timeline that he was given after his operation and believes that there’s “plenty of time” to work with the new wideouts before the start of the regular season. He also admitted that he now has to play a bigger role now that Steve Smith is no longer a Panther.
