Jadeveon Clowney seems to be trying to blaze his own path in the world of endorsements and apparel. According to Darren Rovell, Clowney has officially inked a deal with Puma.
“I just want to be a part of something different,” Clowney told ESPN.com on Wednesday night. “Why not change it up?”
Clowney will have to tape up his cleats on Sundays, because Puma doesn’t have a deal with the NFL. Clowney is expected to be apart of a major marketing campaign.
“He represents everything we are and the consumer we are trying to attract,” said Jay Piccola, president of Puma North America, who presented Clowney with custom snakeskin Puma shoes valued at $2,500.
Clowney admitted that he’ll have to make plays on the field to get Puma to the level he wants off the field.

“I’m going to try to carry my name as far as I can,” said Clowney, who also has signed a draft-week deal with Gillette and longer-term deals with New Era and Wilson. “I’ll have a new hit for you too. Stay tuned. It’s going to come.”
