The Oklahoma City Thunder have a decision to make with Kendrick Perkins in regards to the final year of his contract. Perkins is due $9,404,342 next season and many NBA insiders feel the Thunder would be better served amnestying Perkins, and saving that money.

Perkins has become quite the leader and mentor in the Thunder locker room and despite having the lowest numbers of his career, has made himself more valuable than ever.

Thunder GM Sam Presti told The Oklahoman that using the clause on Perkins hasn’t even been considered at this point.

“I knew I’d get that question,” Presti said. “I wish I had something clever to say there, but I don’t. We’ll look at everything, as we always do. But as we’ve said before, it’s not something that’s been considered to this point.”

This season, Perkins averaged his fewest points (3.4) and rebounds (4.9) since 2004-05.
