There was never a bidding war, but Adidas has added another huge name to put alongside Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, John Wall and Damian Lillard.
Sam Amick of USA Today is reporting that Cleveland Cavaliers guard and No. 1 overall draft pick, Andrew Wiggins, has signed an endorsement deal with the apparel company.
The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the deal until it was announced officially, which is expected Wednesday.
Wiggins played his one season of college basketball at Kansas, which wears Adidas jerseys.
In April, Adidas announced a deal with incoming rookie Dante Exum, the No. 5 pick in the draft by the Utah Jazz. Wiggins joins a list of Adidas basketball clients that includes Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, Damian Lillard, John Wall, Tim Duncan, Joakim Noah and Candace Parker.
Sources with knowledge of the signing say the contract is a multiyear deal that comes with a guarantee of at least $2 million annually. Wiggins could come close to the $100 million deal Lillard just signed.
