The grind of his first NFL training camp has caught up to Morris Claiborne.
Claiborne sat out most of OTA’s with a wrist injury and he may not be in the best possible shape at this moment.
ESPN Dallas is reporting that the No 6 overall pick will be out about a week with a sprained MCL.
The injury is not thought to be serious, but he is having some pain in the knee.
Jerry Jones spoke with reporters after the rookie left practice.
“He had a little twinge there in his knee and our trainers thought it would be best to give him the afternoon off.” “At this time we are not concerned.”
Head coach Jason Garrett also chimed in.
“He got treatment on it (Thursday),” Garrett said. “His knee flared up a little bit on him, so he tried to go in the early part of practice and we took him out of it.”
The early reviews on Claiborne have been spectacular. He is running with the first team defense and challenges Dez Bryant in one on one’s every chance he gets.
Claiborne has already brought an attitude and swagger to the Cowboys secondary that has been lacking for years now.
I expect the Boys to bring him back slowly and at a comfortable pace.
Wednesday September 5th is most important at this point.
