The Minnesota Vikings announced on Monday that star safety Harrison Smith has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the team for years to come.

The deal — at five years and worth $51.25 million, with $28.58 million in guarantees, would make Smith the NFL’s highest paid safety, with a yearly average $10.75 million and a $10-million signing bonus.
