Did Ravens Cut Eugene Monroe For Wanting to Legalize Weed?

The Baltimore Ravens would like you to believe that they parted ways with left tackle Eugene Monroe because there was a ton of interest in him from other teams.

Monroe is still a talented left tackle — but the Ravens selected Notre Dame offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley with the No. 6 overall pick in April’s NFL draft.

Prior to being released — Monroe had already seen the wheels turning after dropping these tweets last week.

The Ravens announced earlier in the week it had been seeking to trade Monroe, who is currently loudly advocating for the NFL to remove medical marijuana from its list of banned substances.

For the Ravens, Monroe’s production didn’t match the five years, $37.5 million deal he signed with the team in 2014.

Add into the equation — Monroe’s missed 15 games over the last-two seasons while grading out poorly according to Pro Football Focus.
