Tony Carr is set to follow in his father’s footsteps — he’s just taken it to a whole other level.
Penn State men’s basketball coach Patrick Chambers has never had a star at the point, let alone this much depth.
That’s all changing as former Roman Catholic star Tony Carr was named the starting point guard for the Nittany Lions who started three freshman in an exhibition.
Carr, who was ranked No. 50 in the 2016 ESPN top 100 recruits in the country, is confidently growing into the role.
“He played at the pace I wanted him to play at, and he made his teammates better,” Chambers said of the guard out of Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia.
Carr started and will continue to start, along with former Roman teammates Lamar Stevens and Mike Watkins.
