Flynn Chooses Seahawks

Well a certain quarterback made a decision today.  Sorry it’s not that Manning guy.  Per Jason La Canfora quarterback Matt Flynn has agreed with the Seattle Seahawks on a three-year deal worth $26 million with $10 million guaranteed.

Many of us were so caught up in the Manning sweepstakes that we forgot about Flynn who was supposed to be the sterling prize of this free agency session but was again relegated to back up status after Manning was released by the Colts.   The former 7th round pick out of LSU was your typical run of the mill backup who played well in mop up duty.

Flynn first played well in a December 2010 start against the New England Patriots throwing 3 touchdowns in a close loss. That afternoon many an NFL scout to notice of the scruffy bearded back up.

Flynn again became a household name in January when he got a start in place of Rodgers who rested after clinching the #1 seed in the NFC.  Flynn only went out and threw for a Packers franchise record of 480 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Matt Flynn is now a Seahawk and even tho some feel Flynn will compete with Tarvaris Jackson for the starting job I have no doubt Flynn will take full advantage of this opportunity to pair himself with Marshawn Lynch and form a potent NFC West challenger.

As this NFL offseason continues to heat up, I cannot wait for the 2012 regular season.  This will a NFL season for the ages.
