Yesterday reports surfaced that former Denver Broncos and Grand Valley State quarterback Cullen Finnerty had gone missing during a fishing trip in Michigan.
Tuesday night Finnerty’s body was found in the Northern Michigan woods near his families cottage according to Around The League.
His body was found about 8 p.m. in the woods about a mile from where he disappeared, said Lake County Undersheriff Dennis Robinson.
His cause of death wasn’t immediately clear, but Robinson said foul play wasn’t suspected. He said the body was not in the water and was found in a wooded area in Webber Township, near the family’s cottage.
An autopsy would be needed to determine how Finnerty died, the undersheriff said.
Finnerty, 30, led Grand Valley State to three Division II national titles and more than 50 wins during his four years as a starter.
He played briefly with the Ravens and Broncos.
