Gennady Golovkin is down with the Kings — literally.
The unified middleweight champion just signed a deal with Jordan Brand on Tuesday — becoming the third boxer to join the Nike apparel line after Roy Jones Jr. and Andre Ward.
He’ll be outfitted with Jordan Brand trunks and gloves for his April 23 fight against Dominic Wade on HBO.
“We are excited to add Gennady to the Jordan Brand family,’ said Larry Miller, Jordan Brand President. “Gennady’s work ethic, dedication to his craft and style make him a perfect fit.”
It’s rare for a boxer to be associated with such a prestigious global brand, but Golovkin seems to be an exception. His megawatt smile, friendly demeanor (outside the ring) and sportsmanship make him the perfect brand ambassador for boxing.
The monster GGG will seek his 17th successful defense and 21st consecutive knockout when he meets Wade on at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles.
