Former Utah Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan revealed to the Salt Lake Tribune’s Steve Luhm that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia.

“I don’t want people feeling sorry for me.”

Sloan, 74, kept the news secret for several months — but after it “progressing to the point where people started to notice” — He felt best to share.

The third winningest coach in NBA history (1,221) — Sloan was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.
