Kyle Lowry & 76ers Have Mutual Interest

It makes sense, but if he’s chasing a title, then maybe the western conference sounds better.

The All-Star point guard, who opted out of the final year of his contract with the Toronto Raptors and will become an unrestricted free agent this summer, is reportedly interested in a potential return here back in Philadelphia per Keith Pompey.

Lowry has been interested in playing for his hometown 76ers “for some time,” sources told Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, and that interest is reportedly mutual. Sources also told Pompey that the Sixers have long planned to offer Lowry a “lucrative” contract this summer.

Sixers president Bryan Colangelo was the general manager who brought Lowry to Toronto in a trade with the Houston Rockets back in 2012. According to Pompey, the two have remained “good friends” since then.

Lowry had the best season of his career, with scoring and rebounding averages (22.4 and 4.8) that were career highs. He also shot a career-best 41.2 percent on three-pointers while averaging 7.0 assists per game, the second-best average of his career.
