Smart move by the LSU brass.
The Tigers now have a permanent head coach, as they announced Saturday morning, that they’ve scheduled a press conference for 1 p.m. ET at which it will announce that interim coach Ed Orgeron will be hired as the permanent football coach.

According to The Advocate — athletic director Joe Alleva and Orgeron met Friday morning to discuss Orgeron’s chances at taking over full time as LSU’s full-time coach, while giving up hope of landing Houston coach Tom Herman.
Orgeron’s promotion means Texas will move quickly to fire Charlie Strong, and poach Herman from the Cougars.
