Maryland Quarterback C.J. Brown Tears ACL

The Baltimore Sun is reporting that University Of Maryland starting quarterback C.J. Brown suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during non contact drills on Tuesday.

Brown is the only quarterback on the roster with any college experience after starting five games last season.

Second year head coach Randy Edsall was extremely disappointed and released a statement.

“I feel terrible for C.J.,” Edsall said in the statement. “He’s worked incredibly hard to be the starting quarterback of this team. He’s stepped up and been a tremendous leader. We’ll do everything we can to make sure he gets the best treatment to help in his recovery.

“Although C.J. won’t be out on the field, he’ll continue to be an important part of this program. As a captain and team leader he’ll do everything he can to help mentor the other quarterbacks on our team.”

The Terps have two other available quarterbacks and both are freshman.   Perry Hills will assume the reigns with Caleb Rowe serving as his backup.
