Ravens Think Rolando McClain Deserves Second Chance

Rolando McClain’s troubles in his hometown of Decatur, Alabama almost cut his NFL career short before he could ever reach his potential.

McClain was released by the Raiders this off-season and given a second chance by the Baltimore Ravens.  Days after signing a one year deal with the Ravens, McClain was arrested again in his hometown for disorderly conduct.

Ravens assistant G.M. Eric DeCosta told the Baltimore Sun that McClain does indeed deserve a (second) second chance in with the team.

I think this about McClain, he deserves a second chance,” DeCosta said   “If you asked him, he would probably admit to making some mistakes.  We think he warrants a second chance.  Obviously, he’s an Alabama guy.

“We have a relationship with a lot of Alabama players.  We get a lot of good information from Alabama because of Ozzie Newsome’s relationship with the school.  So, we think he deserves a second chance.”

DeCosta also expressed confidence in the Ravens ability to keep players out of trouble, and their ability to set up a program for each individual Raven.

“We have a program in place for every single player who comes to Baltimore,” DeCosta said. “We have an  individual plan for every single player that gets mapped out before they come on campus.  Some guys have different issues.”

McClain may be down to his final chance.  The Crimson Tide connection may be the only reason he’s still on the roster today.

McClain can do himself and the Ravens a favor, and stay out of Decatur.
