A rough weekend for the Alabama football team just got worse.
After losing two defenders for the season during the teams win over Florida State, it was learned that Meiko Locksley — son of Alabama wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator Mike Locksley — was killed Sunday night in Maryland per AL.com.
Meiko Locksley was shot around 10:20 p.m. on Sunday and died overnight at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to multiple reports.
Police don’t have any suspects and aren’t aware of any potential motives at this time, according to reports.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike, (his wife) Ms. Kia and the entire Locksley family over this tragedy,” Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. “We’ll do everything we can to support Mike and his family in this time of tragedy.”
Locksley is in his second year on the Alabama staff — spending last season as an offensive game analyst.
Our prayers go out to Locksley and his family.
